EXCELLENT QUALITY ALL AROUND! PLEASANTLY SUPRISED!!!
I’d never heard of the Yealink brand before but decided to give this bluetooth a shot after Plantronics (now Poly) have gone to pot.Plantronics used to be THE standard in bluetooth quality and reliability. Now…..it’s absolutely terrible. In my line of work, I’m on my cell for several hours a day with many incoming/outgoing calls while I’m on the road. This Yealink has been STELLAR!!! Excellent sound quality both for me (what I hear) and my voice as I sound to the person with whom I’m speaking. Additionally, the unit stays connected to BOTH of my cell phones and doesn’t randomly disconnect in the middle of a call as my Plantronics/Poly Voyager did. This unit comes with a nice charging case (Type C) with a good hand feel and LED charging indicators (three green LEDs).The ONLY thing about this unit is that the ON/OFF switch is small so it’s easier for me to turn the unit ON/OFF using my fingernail as opposed to my fingertip. The sound quality, overall performance and battery life on this unit are absolutely excellent. As of the today (10/4/24), I’ve had the unit almost three months and it continues to work perfectly. The best bluetooth I’ve ever owned.I’m suprised and glad I gave this unit a try.

Noise cancelling does not work at all
I recently purchased the Yealink BH71 Pro and encountered a significant issue with the device. Despite being marketed as having noise-cancelling features, there is no noticeable noise cancelling during use. This severely impacts the quality of calls, especially in noisy environments, as background noise is clearly picked up by the microphone. This issue needs to be addressed, as it diminishes the overall functionality and user experience of the headset.

    Quality versus shipping
The quality of this product is good but I was very upset by how this product arrived. The product showed up to my doorstep in its own box that was not properly packed. The product box got thrown around and opened leaving a frustrated customer when this laziness was discovered.

    Not What I expected
Could not sync this product with my phone’s contact list. So when I received an incoming call it did not identify who it was from. I use this product when I am driving, so I had to be looking down to see if I wanted to accept the call.Return the product. The return process was good, and went smoothly.

Great headset, but controls need refinement
I received the Pro variant, which includes the charging case and USB dongle.I’m coming into this review with the lens of somebody who used a Plantronics (Poly) Voyager 5200, arguably the gold standard for this type of headset, every work day for almost two years straight. This headset gets very close, and I have only a handful of small grievances.Sound quality is great, both from the earpiece and through the mic to the receiving party. The headset uses voice clips to relay status information and settings changes, and these are all clear and easy to understand. Range is also great; I was able to wander all the way across my office area (about 50 feet with two walls in between) without any breakups in audio. Preliminary results on battery life also seem great. I took a number of calls and only knocked it down to 80%. I’ll have to wait until a more call-heavy day for some real endurance testing, but I don’t doubt it would make it just fine. The USB dongle has status lights on both sides, making them visible regardless of which way the USB port on your device faces. That’s some attention to detail!Controls are a bit of a mixed bag. The mute button and answer/end button are fine, but the power switch and volume control are both a bit cumbersome. Each needs changes to make them easier to operate, like a taller nub for power. Additionally, the knob turns smoothly, but only sends a volume command every 45 degrees or so of rotation. Detents in motion would be appreciated, or just using separate up/down buttons instead. I do appreciate that bluetooth pairing is intuitive, just slide the power switch further and hold it there until it starts flashing blue.I also tried the headset with my work-supplied Polycom VVX-500, connecting the USB dongle directly into the phone. I was amazed to see the call answer/end and mute buttons worked perfectly. I ran into a weird issue with volume control; if I turned the volume down on the headset, and then back up, the phone’s volume control would continue going the wrong way for two or three ‘clicks’. It also changes the ringtone volume to match the headset volume every time a call comes in. A firmware fix should be able to resolve this. I would prefer if there was a way to have the headset handle volume entirely internally instead of also sending control to the connected device, again something firmware could resolve. This issue did not occur with bluetooth, nor did it occur when using the USB dongle on a Windows computer. The phone and windows apps (Yealink Connect) are easy to use and has the expected features, allowing firmware updates and settings changes. I especially appreciate the ability to unpair devices here, but they’re otherwise unremarkable. They do their job well.My final complaint is the charging situation. There’s no USB-C connector directly on the headset, nor is there a snap-on adapter included. You MUST use the included charging case (or the BH71 workstation, if you have that accessory.) On the plus side, the charging case is very slim, and has rounded corners that allow it to slip easily into a pocket. The hinge has no detent to hold it open, but it’s otherwise great. With this headset, it’s very clear Yealink is aiming squarely at the Voyager 5200. For a first attempt, I think they did a very good job. Revised controls, some software tweaks, and including a USB-C port on the headset itself would make this perfect. Still, those small annoyances melt away when you see the price difference to the V5200.
